Caesars Entertainment UK is the proud holder of two prestigious Green Apple Awards in recognition of our environmental credentials.
The first Award marks a milestone in our Food For Thought programme which offsets our carbon footprint by raising funds to plant trees in developing countries. We have planted almost 110,000 trees since the initiative launched in 2011, thanks to the voluntary 99p surcharge on restaurant bills donated by our customers.
The second Award acknowledges the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill in Nottingham for being the first restaurant in the UK to run a Carbon Free Christmas initiative. A tree was planted for every customer who attended a Christmas party at the venue. The result was almost 2,000 extra trees.
Set up and run by the Green Earth Appeal, ‘Food For Thought’ raises funds to plant trees in some of the world’s poorest communities and to provide education and resources to create a sustainable lifestyle for disadvantaged people in the developing world.
Green Earth Appeals Founder, Marvin Baker said: “Caesars Entertainment UK is an incredibly worthy winner of both these highly acclaimed awards. Not only has their commitment been instrumental in the success of the Food for Thought initiative, but the results they have achieved to date have been nothing short of mind-blowing. The 100,000 fruit trees not only offset their carbon footprint and food waste, but also provide a source of food for generations to come”.
The Green Apple Environment Awards were launched in 1994 by The Green Organisation – an independent, non-political, non-profit organisation that recognises, rewards and promotes, environmental best practice around the world. The Awards have become well established as one of the major environmental recognition schemes, both in the UK and internationally.
